I Liked You Better When I Thought You Were Perfect



If you have an eye for American history and ever find yourself in Northern Virginia, I would strongly recommend an afternoon at George Washington’s Mount Vernon. The remains of our first president’s plantation have been preserved and converted into a cultural history museum complete with exhibits, archives and personal effects  that belonging to Washington and his wife. No trip to the estate is complete without also taking a meal at the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant located right next door to the gift shop.

Some time ago, I had the distinct pleasure of attending a going away luncheon there for a former boss.  Frank, we’ll call him, was a retired Army officer, something of a history buff and also a huge Washington admirer. So it was an easy call for his deputy Stacy on where we could go to send off our departing friend in fitting style.
