Raising People Expectations….. Falsely

One Man's Opinion

When  discussing taking a moral inventory with one of my Strange Classroom’s teachers, he brought up the subject of raising peoples expectations falsely; how dangerous this was, he went so far as to say it was no better than out right lies.   He was talking about how to raise a recovering addict/alcoholic’s expectation and then not following through with implied promises, can push the person that has been let down into a relapse. Like most of the lessons I learned concerning addiction, they work just as well for non addiction related situations, for life in general.
